Sugar Creek Township Fire Department, Hancock County

The Sugar Creek Township Fire Department (SCTFD) of Hancock County, Indiana is now accepting applications for the creation of a hiring eligibility list for the position of firefighter.

All applicants must, at a minimum:

  • Be a current Indiana certified EMT-B, have National Registry Certification and/or eligible for reciprocity;
  • Hold a current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) card
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Hold a valid Indiana Driver's License or obtain same within 30 days of hire
  • Be 21 years of age by date of hire, but have not reached their 36th birthday by date of hire, unless already members of the State of Indiana 1977 Police Officers' and Firefighters' Pension and Disability Fund. *

* U.S. Armed Forces veterans that have completed at least 20 years of military service and have or are eligible to receive an honourable discharge, notwithstanding any contrary law, must be no more than 40 years and 6 months at the time of appointment.

All successful applicants will be placed on the SCTFD's 2-year hiring list.

Special Note- SCTFD Reserves the right to give preference to applicants who:

  • are currently full-time firefighters, have membership in the Indiana Public Retirement System 1977 Police and Firefighters' Pension Fund and hold current Indiana Department of Homeland Security paramedic licensure.
  • hold current Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) paramedic licensure or the ability to obtain same within 30 days of conditional offer of employment.
